In order to earn fat amount of money, four Brazilian doctors took out kidneys of four patients making them suffer death. The highlight of the case is that this incident happened in 1986, and now the court has ruled out its decision in the favor of victims.
The case got stretched for 25 years, during which one of the doctors passed away. As per the judgment ruled out by Judge Marco Montemor, all the remaining three doctors, Rui Sacramento, Pedro Torrecillas and Mariano Fiore Junior would face the 17 years imprisonment for the period of six months.
One relaxation has been given to the doctors and that is they would be allowed to continue their practise, but with certain rules and regulations. Marco said there were lots of formalities in the case, and it made the case to get stretched for long.
It was not a new thing as there are many cases that have been stretched for long years, as Brazilian Court is known to be quite lazy in its working.
As per the prosecutor, the four doctors removed the kidneys of patients in a public hospital at the time when they were not brain dead. Then kidneys were given to private hospital for US$41,000. Defense attorney said all allegations were wrong, and patients were dead, when kidneys were taken out.
All the four handled different responsibilities, Sacramento and Torrecillas were convicted for murdering the patients by removing their kidneys, and Fiore, who is neurosurgeon, was blamed to declaring that patients’ were brain dead at the time when they were not.
It could be organ trafficking, but for now nothing has been said.
After hearing the court ruling, Sacramento became unconscious in the court, and family member of the victims were seen to be quite emotional. They hugged each other, and moved on.
