Cervical Cancer is known as one of the most common reasons of death among women and therefore doctors these days are urging more and more of women to come forward and get themselves checked and vaccinated against this lethal virus. But recently, it has come into notice that the vaccination for cervical cancer is beneficial for boys also, and therefore along with girls it should be state-funded for them as well.
Gardasil, the cervical cancer vaccination, helps protecting you from various types of sexually transmitted diseases. It offers protection against HPV (human papilloma virus) that is also sexually transmitted and is known for causing 70% cervical cancer. Other than this, the Gardasil vaccination is effective enough to protect women and men against other types of cancer like HPV-linked cancers of the genital-anal area as well. It also protects against the HPV type that is responsible for causing 90% of genital warts.
Warts are no doubt less serious than cancer but then these create lots of stress for patients and often seek protracted health care also. Recently this month, a medical journal in regard to the "near disappearance" of genital warts in young women with a gap of four years from the inauguration of Australia's HPV vaccination operation, has been written by Australian researchers. According to this report, since 2008, New Zealand has begun offering free vaccinations to girls and women; the number of female clients suffering from genital warts has reduced from 14% to 5%. This means that within a period of around 3 years, there has been noticed a drastic reduction in percentage of women suffering from genital warts. All thanks to New Zealand medical association that has granted free and timely vaccinations to all.
