A recent study has revealed that due to genetic disorder a person often tends to regain weight even after following aggressive diet plan. The findings of the study have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
For the study, the researchers measured the hormones of 50 participants. The levels of hormones were measured during, after and before a period of 10 weeks when the participants were provided with diet plan.
The researchers found that a particular hormone called ghrelin increases the appetite of a person. The researchers have claimed that the ghrelin hormone become active when a person tries to suppress the normal appetite. The active ghrelin hormones are at the fault of failure of weigh loss programs.
The researchers have noted that marinating weight loss is a much difficult ask as compared to losing weight. The study has highlighted that it is natural for a body to resist changes.
Obesity is becoming a growing problem and there is an urgent need to tackle with the problem before it is too late. For past few years, many researchers have been working towards finding ways of preventing obesity.
It is hoped that the findings of the study would prove helpful in finding way of treating obesity. Obesity has been linked to various fatal diseases like diabetes and cancer. It has been informed that all over world there are about 1.5 billion people, suffering from obesity. The situation is worse in countries like Australia where 50% of women and 60% of men are categorized as obese.
Although it has been found that an obese person will regain weight, one should not give up and should follow a healthy life style.
