As per latest information, it has been revealed that the south's neurosurgery supply has been strengthened with the rendezvous of a senior neurosurgery lecturer at the Dunedin School of Medicine.
Reports even highlight expectations that Reuben Johnson will be leading the consultancy department of neurosurgery at the Dunedin Hospital. The fresh opening was molded with the intent of providing a clear and better academic attendance for neurosurgery in Dunedin according to newly formulated South Island Neurosurgical Service.
In this regard, Lexie O’Shea, the Acting CEO of Southern DHB has expressed her happiness regarding the better position of Neurosurgery Unit at the Dunedin Hospital, which, as per her, is gaining strength from toe to toe.
The appointment of second long-term neurosurgeon has been carried out at the South Island Neurosurgery Service of the Dunedin Hospital node.
As per reports, it has further been claimed that the 38-year-old UK resident Reuben Johnson will be taking up his role as senior neurosurgery lecturer at the Dunedin School of Medicine’s University of Otago and along with that, he will also be also taking up the position of Dunedin Hospital’s consultant neurosurgeon sometime in the middle of 2012.
His selection has arrived almost a year behind the declaration of proposals for the promising and fresh regional service facility for neurosurgery in order to carry on in both Christchurch and Dunedin. It also trails the selection of Ahmad Taha, who was appointed as consultant neurosurgeon earlier in August.
In this regard, Dr. John Adams, the Dean of the Dunedin School of Medicine, said that he feels immensely delighted in relation to the appointment of Mr. Johnson. “His impressive academic background places him well to help develop the school as a leading centre for neurosurgery teaching and research”, he added.
