Bariatric Surgeries Not Going to Be Covered by Public Health Services

Bariatric Surgeries Not Going to Be Covered by Public Health ServicesIt has been revealed in a recent report that weight-loss surgeries like bariatric surgeries are no more going to be covered under public healthcare plans in Georgia. This is a recent addition to a number of other states which had previously denied covering the costs of bariatric surgeries.

The states included Louisiana, Oklahoma, Idaho and Pennsylvania.

Bariatric surgeries are on the rise these days. Many people across the world are opting for this type of surgeries to get rid of extra weight and cut the risk of obesity and a number of other related surgeries. What they fail to understand here is that these surgeries don't come without side effects. So people tend to end up in a ruckus, after having these surgeries.

There are many cases that have seen these weight reduction surgeries go bad and this gives rise to life-threatening situations for people at times. It is essential that people understand that weight loss can be brought about with the help of a planned routine in life, that includes a workout and diet schedule that works for the person. Bariatric as well as other surgeries will bring weight loss, but one will have to be at a constant threat of relapse and there are many complications included.

''Surgery is only a tool, not a cure. Patients still need to adopt a healthy diet and exercise program to help ensure their surgery is a success", said Dr. Georgia Rigas.

Insurance covers for bariatric surgeries would mean covering the risks of them going bad as well and, it might make the public health care industry liable for the mistakes made by the individual, risking heavy loss for itself.
