Cancer Research UK Urges Government to Upgrade Radiotherapy

Cancer Research UK Urges Government to Upgrade RadiotherapyIt has been reported that a group of campaigners is marching ahead to convince the government to improve the radiotherapy services so that a number of cancer patients could be saved. There is no doubt that advancement in science is increasing the life expectancy of cancer patients.

Therefore, it is necessary to diagnose a cancer patient at an early stage so that he or she could be saved from the grips of death. Every year, a number of cancer patients succumb to death as they are not diagnosed with cancer at an appropriate stage.

With the pursuit of encouraging the government to bring in improved steps to tackle cancer, as many as 36,000 people are campaigning together with Cancer Research UK in the campaign Voice for Radiotherapy.

The campaign was launched on Thursday at No 10 Downing Street. The aim of the campaign is to make the screening available for all so that timely detection of cancer could be performed. Moreover, it is estimated there will be a hike in the cancer patients as the life expectancy of a normal human being has improved.

Considering the growing population of elder, it is believed that there is an urgent need to increase the staffing of nurses and carers so that their health needs could be answered. The Cancer Research UK is of the view that the intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) should be made available for use for all, as they have proved helpful in reducing mortality rate in cancer.

It is hoped that the government would consider the request of the campaigners and would make the screening tests available for all. Cancer is a deadly disease which affects a number of lives all over the world. Timely screening is the only way of treating cancer.
