Asthma Foundation Calls For Smokers to Get Checked For COPD

COPDThere seems to be no second thought that rising breathing problems have become contentious issue for countries across the world, and perhaps that’s what has made the Asthma Foundation come forward to take concrete measures to address the issue of not only existing smokers but old smokers also.

There are rising voices to ensure that all people who have ever faced problems with breathing opt for breathing test called spirometry that could make them identified with any suspected concern of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).

The issue has caught the attention of one and all for the reason that the World COPD Day is coming on 16 November, and thus it becomes all the way more important to ensure that there is no dearth of efforts to educate people about the same.

As for this year, the day would be celebrated with the theme of ‘Spirometry "Are you short of breath? You may have COPD! Ask your doctor about a simple breathing test called spirometry"’. Being conducted by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD), a lot is expected to be done to ensure that the severity of the health concern is not overlooked and being given the desired level of attention.

It has been known that last year, nearly 123 events were conducted across 38 countries to ensure that the much needed attention is being garnered for the cause, and this year, expectation are pretty high.

If reports from the Asthma Foundation are to be referred, it has been told that 1 in 7 New Zealanders if the age of 45 is facing the risk of COPD and the worrying part is that the risk is a lot more than those living in greater Hamilton.

While the report is making reverberations in the contours of the society, there are rising expectations that people would be encouraged to take advice of medical experts serious this time so that the noble cause of the event could be justified.
