There’s an age-old cold war heating up between the legendary "Call of Duty" of Activision Blizzard Inc. and the sensation combat game "Battlefield” by Electronic Arts Inc. The state of cut-throat competition between the two rivals is mainly on the power slider of their holiday sales. Activision is best-known for its breathtaking mortal combat series dubbed “Call of Duty” which has recently steeped on a new ladder with the launch of Modern Warfare 3, while EA sports is a versatile player holding a wide collection of medallions in his portfolio of warfare and sports games. Both the corporations are leaders in the billion dollar game franchises of the video gaming industry.
Earlier on Tuesday, Activision unveiled the latest edition in its everlasting "Call of Duty" series, dubbed the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3." It goes head on against "Battlefield 3", the recently launched warfare affair by the EA. Both are likely to be among the blockbuster games in the time to come, and they will be certainly rocking the stores this year. Earlier this year, both the companies released prior versions of the said games.
The stakes are immensely high in this holiday face-off. Activision banks nearly 50% of its annual turnover during the final quarter of the year. Both the corporate have grabbed policies of releasing less but better-quality edition every year, revealed Matthew Jacob, the ITG Investment Research analyst, forcing each and every game fascinate to get hold of the recent versions as they promise to be a belter of excitement.
“We're going to have record results this year”, claimed Bobby Kotick, the Chief Executive of Activision. The company is keen on investing in mobile gaming along with its investments in the field of games for social-networks, he added further.
