Experts Suggest Fibre Rich Diet to Reduce Chances of Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal-CancerUnhealthy food habits are already known to have negative impact on health and to trigger a number of health complications such as cardiovascular conditions, diabetes and obesity among others. Health experts suggest taking balanced diet, which is rich in all essential nutrients, in order to prevent these unwanted health conditions.

Consequently, after analyzing results of a latest research, experts have suggested that a high fibre diet can play significant role to minimize the risk of colorectal cancer. Before suggesting the findings, they carefully examined the outcome of more than 25 related studies, compiled through the involvement of more than two million people.

As per available medical data, particularly in Ireland, experts identify more than 2,000 new cases of colorectal cancer every year, where it tends to kill more than 1,000 people annually. The lethal form of cancer tends to kill more than 16,000 people in Britain, and has more death rates as compared to breast or prostate cancer.

During the study course, experts observed that intake of balanced diet, especially rich in fibre, including cereals and whole grains, has significantly declined the chances of developing deadly colorectal cancer. In addition, they also observed that around 10g increase per day has a close association with no less than 10% decline in the colorectal cancer risk as compared to the diets with lowest levels of fiber.

"In summary, our analysis suggests that a high intake of dietary fiber, particularly from cereal and whole grains, is associated with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer”, insisted the study authors.

Experts from the Imperial College London in collaboration with the Danish Cancer Society have concluded that higher levels of dietary fiber especially in the form of cereal and whole grains have significantly reduced chances of colorectal cancer.
