It seems that in the coming year, face of medical health care in Wales is going to change, as a recent survey by the Welsh NHS Confederation revealed that by and large, people are of the view that health care in home or nearby communities is far better than hospitals. There is no denial that services at hospitals are the best possible way to address health concerns, but recently home care has gripped the attention of one and all.
There would be huge responsibility on primary and community services to come forward to pay heed to the heath care needs of patients. Though all district general hospitals across Wales would not change their primary work structure, this option could be considered in future. There are fair chances that a special wing will be made which will keel complete track of patients after they are discharged. Specialists would be required to support the plan. Even inclusion of telemedicine could prove out to be effective in dealing with the fact that such home care services would be required round the clock.
Even Helen Birtwhistle, Director of the Welsh NHS Confederation, referring to the survey results, claimed that there is near consensus that people have acknowledged the value of home care.
Meanwhile, there are reports that indicated that the Welsh Assembly Government has made their plans public about addressing the scarcity of organ donors. It was told that a white paper has been published which has highlighted the need to bring strategic changes in the way organ donation has been dealt with so far.
"Repeated surveys show that the overwhelming majority of people in the UK and Wales believe in organ donation, but only one in three people in Wales have joined the organ donor register", said Health Minister Lesley Griffiths, who is of the opinion that there is dire need to ensure that more and more people come forward to donate their organs.
