As per a survey report released by Gallup, the US health care law could not take much needed steps to take care of the health of elderly Americans. Till now, the balance has not been achieved as weight is being more on the side of uninsured elderly.
Telephonic survey has revealed that no improvement has come in health insurance numbers from the last quarter, as even now 17.3% of the US people do not have it. They also pointed out that number could be more as they have relied only on telephonic survey.
There were many other points on which Gallup focused on, like they talked about the Affordable Care Act and analyzed the situation and concluded that the Act was of little help to improve Americans’ health coverage.
As per this act, small businesses were given tax credits, in order to promote health insurance covers for their employees.
It was seen that Americans falling under the age group of 25 to 64 were quiet encouraged to get themselves health insurance cover. Another thing which Gallup noticed was that ruling to keep their children on their insurance until 26 years of age also helped.
Health policies are not the sole reason to blame as circumstances were such that it led to depletion in the existing numbers of health care. Gallup said economic crisis and increasing unemployment led as many as 44.5% employees to drop their health insurance.
In the words of Gallup, the condition of the US in regard to the health cover is, “The increase in government health insurance has occurred in tandem with the increasing percentage of Americans without health insurance and the decreasing percentage that get coverage from their employer”.
Opposition has got a point to criticize Obama, as it was his thought to introduce it but Gallup said unemployment, job sack outs and under-employment has also added to the problem.
