Cheese Found to be Good for Heart Health

Cheese Found to be Good for Heart HealthFor so long health experts have been recommending to keep away from animal fats to reduce cholesterol, here comes another research which claims that cheese is not that bad to be treated as unhealthy. It was told that those who consume daily servings of cheese for six-week intervals were found to have reduced LDL cholesterol as compared to those who indulge in butter.

Published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, this study was done by a team of Danish researchers. For the study, the team roped in 50 people, and they were made to go through a controlled diet. The team noted that measured amount of cheese or butter is added in their diet to track LDL level. The team examined for six-week intervals, and found that though there were given more fat in their diet, those on cheese were found to have low LDL, while those on butter were having LDL increase of seven percent.

''Cheese lowers LDL cholesterol when compared with butter intake of equal fat content and does not increase LDL cholesterol compared with a habitual diet", said Julie Hjerpsted, who along with her team worked on this study.

It was observed that there was significant difference in the level of LDL on those who were on cheese and those on butter; however, there could be some other reasons for the same. Backed by the Danish Dairy Board and the National Dairy Research Institute, the research has paved ways for extensive research.

As the research is being talked about in medical fraternity, it's being believed that there would be no change whar5soever in the medical recommendations concerning the inclusion of cheese in regular diet by health experts till the time conclusive results are not being presented.
