Watchdog to Visit Homes of Elderly for Spot Checks on Care Workers

home-Care-WorkersConcerns are rapidly increasing that some agencies are continuously breaching crucial aspects of human rights along with disregarding the dignity with which elderly care should be provided in care homes.

As a result, watchdogs have decided to scrutinize the homes of the elderly with the intent of inspecting the quality of services being provided by care workers. The inspectors will be analyzing the manner in which elderly people are being treated.

As per reports, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is apparently under extreme apprehension in relation with the care being provided by various private agencies. It has expressed its suspicion that the services offered by care workers are appalling to an extent that they have breached the basic human rights of vulnerable pensioners.

Starting from April, it will be carrying out comprehensive inspections of almost 250 organizations dealing with care facilities for elderly people. During the assessment, official watchdogs will go to the homes of pensioners, with their prior approval, at the same time scheduled for care workers to offer their services. They will be examining whether or not the staff are heeding residents and attending to their elementary requirements, assisting them in eating. The major point to analyze, as per CQC, will be whether the care workers are dealing with elderly residents with the required dignity.

They will also inspect offices of the care firms, without any prior consent, and will analyze the manner in which they carry out their day-to-day business activities.

The watchdogs follow a string of spot checks conducted earlier his year on various hospitals in the region, which shed light on the shocking fact that almost one out of every five hospitals were disregarding the fundamental requirements of elderly citizens to such a devastating extent they claimed to be involved in law-breaking activities.
