Canned food is not only convenient but also carries harmful chemicals. It has been informed by scientists that the canned food caries chemicals of the tin of the can which is consumed by people.
It has been revealed by scientists that bisphenol A (BPA) is consumed with every intake of canned food. Previous study has revealed that the BPA levels can have dire consequences over the health of a person.
Acknowledging the worse consequences of BPA over one's health, European authorities' have already banned the use of chemical in the preparation of baby bottles. However, it is still being used in the production of cans and soft drink bottles.
Dr. Jenny Carwile from Harvard School of Public Health noted, "We've known for a while that drinking beverages that have been stored in certain hard plastics can increase the amount of BPA in your body. This study suggests that canned foods may be an even greater concern, especially given their wide use".
Although it has been found that people are consuming hazardous component, it is yet to gauge as to what health hazards it causes. Acknowledging the findings of the scientists, the UK's Food Standards Agency said that they will be conducting a study to understand the impact of BPA on health.
However, it is believed that the chemical consumed with the canned food can have a link with behavioral and emotional problems in girls. Besides, scientists are also suspicious that the controversial component may also trigger heart diseases among consumers.
Although, it has been found that chemical carried by the can or tin is consumed by the consumers, the chemicals carried on the can are in accordance to limit set by the authorities concerned.
