Sega Sammy, the parent company of video game publisher Sega, divulged the company’s sales figures having 7.7 percent drop in revenues for the last nine months ended on December 31, still able to gain the profit.
Net income of the company rose to ¥16.95 billion from a net loss of ¥10.84 billion last year.
Pachislot, amusement center, and arcade machine businesses are also run by Sega Sammy. Bayonetta sold 1.1 million units and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games sold 5.67 million units.
Sega's toys and home console games attained a ¥1.4 billion profit in its first three fiscal quarters, closing the ¥5.65 billion operating loss of these days last year. The company is expecting PS3 software to surpass Nintendo DS before the end of this fiscal year.
"While domestic sales were mostly firm thanks to streamlining the development by narrowing down the titles, overseas sales were weaker than expected following the adverse market condition, and also, the launch of some titles was postponed to the next fiscal year", said the company.
