As per latest reports, Toyota Europe is all in willingness to perk up the demand of the recently launched production edition of its ravishing FT-86 sports coupe, dubbed GT 86. The new “GT 86”, which was launched on Sunday, from the world’s No. 1 carmaker gets its mane from the historic and utterly-elegant Corolla GT of 1986.
Toyota’s latest offspring in coupe segment is likely to step into the shoes of its predecessors. Quite identical to the Corolla GT, Toyota’s GT 86 will be certainly playing the underdog remarkably well in the concrete world. Though it’s not an easy way going ahead as it seems like lacking a few essential proteins, a mere 200 horsepower offered by 2.0-liter engine powered with the advanced injection technology from Toyota. Though it’s no more than a Clio RS, the GT can in fact manage a sprint up to 100 km/h in 6 flashy seconds; all credit goes do its focused chassis, clever design and low weight.
The rear wheels get power from a 6-speed manual (optionally automatic) paddle shifters fitted at the back of steering wheel. With just-right specs, it certainly compiles an appeal of a budged sports car that offers a limited slip differential (its standard).
The interiors are lofty and the wagon entertains impressively low center of gravity at just 475mm (18.7-inches). Well, that will do the trick to win over any sports car in its segment.
The coupe's debut has narrowly followed the 2010 launch of the Lexus LFA luxury sports car, and it evidently reflects the attempts of Akio Toyoda, the company President, to fetch back a performance factor to its blossoming inventory of sports cars, which until recent past had discarded sports cars.
