It has been revealed in a recent report that with the new system of overhauling and cost cutting underway in the NHS, the hospitals are now short of 5000 nurses in the ordeal. It was further revealed that the saving target for the NHS of £20bn might be the reason for falling standards of care for the patients. It might mean that the patients will not be able to get the necessary care and treatment, due to shortage of staff and insufficient provisions for care.
It was revealed by Lord Patel, a retired Obstetrician that there is soon going to be a shortage of about 4500-5000 nurses in the UK, and about half of the staff is going to be aged between 45 and 55 years.
It was revealed by the Labor's Baroness Warwick from Undercliffee that the cuts being put on the nurses might result in adverse results for the patient care.
"Despite Government promises that there would be no cuts to frontline NHS care, clinical services and staffing levels are being severely affected.' Pre-registration nursing places for new entrants were also being cut", revealed Lady Warwick.
It was further added that there is need for enough nurses and that they should be well-versed with training and equipment for the effective care and treatment of the patients.
The need of nurses cannot be overlooked and undermined. There is need for effective personal care given to the patients and that is possible only through trained medical practitioners and care givers.
It is essential that the cuts are managed in such a way that they don't harm the safety and health of the patients.
