Women empowerment is taking place all over the world but still there are some regions where women are being deprived of their rights like driving vehicle. The technological advancement has made it possible for us to finish our daily routine tasks without wasting much of time. And automobiles are a part of the same.

Still, the women of Saudi Arabia are being deprived of their right on the grounds of moral and ethics. The legislative executives of Saudi Arabia are of the view that licensing women to drive vehicles would lead to increased number of prostitutes, pornography, divorce cases and homosexuality.

Kamal Subhi, a former professor at the conservative King Fahd University, has claimed that soon after ten years of lift of the ban, all the women of Saudi Arabia would turn non-virgin. The professor gave the examples of other Muslim countries where moral decline has been witnessed after allowing women to drive.

The condition of women in the Saudi Arabia is worse, in the month of September, a women was awarded with 10 lashes with a whip for driving in Jeddah. The punishment led to chaos among the people and they asked the government to make provision for women drivers.

Kamal Subhi has presented a report in front of the council in which he has pointed out the adverse outcome of allowing women to drive car. In the report, he reported an instance of a coffee shop, “All the women were looking at me. One made a gesture that made it clear she was available... this is what happens when women are allowed to drive”.

No matter what the religious and political parties opine about giving liberty to women to drive cars, there is no doubt that the people of Saudi Arabia are seeking a change in the laws.
