Inspite of countless awareness programs and tremendous medical advancement breast cancer is continued to execute a number of women, all over the world, regardless of their age. Younger as well as adult or old women can be considered with almost equal risk for developing the severe health condition, especially if they have a history of the disease in their family. A majority of experts have suggested early screening as a key tool to curb the number of breast cancer cases as well as related deaths.
Recently, a latest report compiled by the Breast Screen Australia program has suggested that in 2007 around 6,297 women aged between 50 and 69 were diagnosed with breast cancer where the BreastScreen Australia program has alone contributed for the diagnose of around 45% cases.
In a report, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare as well as the federal Health Department has notified a significant decline in the number of breast cancer related deaths because of the screening program, launched around 20 years back.
"We need to look at how we promote the breast screen programs to women in the target age group and really get the message out that if you are being screened and cancer is detected", explained the Chief Minister, Katy Gallagher, while applauding the findings and claiming that the rates have experienced a decline for the first time. Further, she insisted that the authorities have outlined policies for introducing a latest information campaign to highlight the importance of regular checks.
Further, the minister has also hailed women to take their health seriously and appear for screening tests on time in order to prevent breast cancer. On the other hand, a Spokesman for the Health Minister, Nicola Roxon, said that the Standing Committee on Health will be considering the review.
