There is no doubt that excessive consumption of sugar could affect one's health, and that's why this issue always was given so much of attention. While there are many who have advocated the use of regulated consumption of sugar in diet, there are reports that indicated that there are many cereals that are made up of too much of sugar in it.
There are reports that those who are under such diets are unable to perform well in schools and even they are more susceptible to obesity. Excessive sugar is what could make them more addictive to unhealthy eating practices.
It has been found that the way such products are being projected on TV, people do feel attracted by that and that's what make children and their parents draw towards them. Among all, Kellogg's Honey Sugar Smacks was found to be the unhealthiest of all. However, Linda Sutherland, Vice President of nutrition for Kellogg's, completely defends by saying that they have significantly reduced the content of sugar in the cereals by 16% since 2007. Though they maintain that the product is not meant for kids, putting up a picture of a smiling frog on the front of the box makes it quite clear that target is only kids.
It has been found that it has a sugar content of 56% by weight, "a one-cup serving of the brand packs more sugar than a Hostess Twinkie, and one cup of any of the 44 other children's cereals has more sugar than three Chips Ahoy! Cookies".
There are many others, including Honey Nut Cheerios, Apple Jacks & Cap'n Crunch, which are found to have excess sugar content. Though excess sugar is unhealthy for people of any age, children are more likely to fall under the category of maximum risk. There are still efforts required to address the percolating concern of dietary habits of children.
