Breast cancer is one of the dangerous illnesses that women are suffering from today. But what has been revealed by the researchers recently regarding the breast cancer illness, a new hope has started flying among all the affected ones as well as among the medical professionals too.
Yes, researchers at the University Hospital in South Manchester have recently started suggesting people to follow a strict two-day diet rather than constantly working upon cutting calories, in order to see a more effective weight lose as well as improvement in three of the key area related to breast cancer.
Dr. Michelle Harvie actually led a study (findings of which have been presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium) to notice how women reduce with different diets and if this can reduce any of the breast cancer risks in them.
The researchers included 100 overweight female volunteers in the study and served them all respectively with three different diets.
In the first diet chart, researchers included 650 calories a day and followed it for several days of the week. Carbohydrates like potatoes and bread were totally cut out. And for the remaining five days of the week, the participants were allowed to consume whatever they liked.
The second diet chart followed no specific calorie chart and the participants were banned to eat carbohydrates for two days in a week. They were also allowed to eat as much as they wanted for the remainder of the week.
The third and final group followed a diet in which they were told to avoid high-fat foods, alcohol and sticking to approximately 1,500 calories every day.
After three months, the results of the study showed that women on the two-day diets lost approx nine pounds as compared to five pounds of other diets. Also, they recorded significant improvements in three key areas linked to breast cancer.
