AT&T Merger Deal With T-Mobile USA in Trouble Again

AT&T Merger Deal With T-Mobile USA in Trouble AgainThere seems to be tough time ahead of AT&T, as a federal judge has accepted the request to freeze the deal of acquiring T-Mobile USA Inc. This comes as nothing less than a shocker for the company as they were expecting to get some breather this time.

It has been known that the proposed merger between AT&T and T-Mobile had gone into troubles after the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission opposed the deal last month. With this decision, this could be termed as major setback for the company. The federal judge is of the say that AT&T was under the impression that they would be able to change the stance taken by the FCC regulators with an antitrust trial.

“We don’t have any confidence that we are spending all this time and effort and taxpayers’ money and that we’re not being spun”, said U. S. District Judge Ellen S. Huvelle. However, the lawyer of AT&T asserted that they would do their best to ensure that this deal seam through all hurdles soon and offer the American consumer the benefits of increased wireless network capacity. There is a need for resources of AT&T and T-Mobile USA to be merged so that effective services could be delivered.

There are reports that indicated that this deal could mar the future of industry as it would make users pay higher monthly cellphone bills, and would even dilute competition in the market. The same reports were later endorsed by the FCC, which made the deal more difficult for the deal to move ahead.

It’s being believed that AT&T was on the favor of fighting out the matter in court, overlooking the need of seeking approval from the FCC. But, things turned unexpectedly bad for them. There seems to be glaring loopholes in the plan chalk out for the merger which seems to have been picked by the FCC.
