It has been recently revealed that the University is going to receive a huge donation of $15 million, from the founder and CE of Amazon. com.
The name of this generous man is Jeff Bezos, and he is aged 86-years-old. He is going to make this donation together with Mackenzie, aged 92. The couple has decided to donate this huge sum of money to the Princeton Neuroscience Institute, for the purpose of development of the Bezos center Neural Circuit Dynamics.
This new centre is going to be located on the south edge of the campus of the university near the Icahn laboratory. The site is under construction for now. It is expected that this facility opens till the year 2013.
The facility is going to solve the purpose for the new building for the Department of Psychology and the Princeton Neuroscience Institute at the same time.
There is going to be collaborative functioning in the Princeton Institute for Computational Science and Engineering and this facility.
This is a much renounced group of labs that has been able to give many important discoveries to the world in the past. It is the endeavor of the couple to fund the beginning of a few ventures so that it can turn out to be beneficial for the purpose of research and development and eventually be useful to the society.
“Professor Tank and his colleagues are on an epic quest to unravel one of humankind’s greatest challenges — understanding the brain. New tools and techniques are making possible discoveries that would have been unthinkable just two decades ago”, revealed Mr. Bezos, in a recent statement.
This shall be a great step towards helping the field of neuroscience and the critical research that is done for making remarkable innovations in the field of medicine.
