It has been recently revealed that there is a recent scare of encephalitis in the country. Out of all the blood samples that have been taken so far, 20% have been tested positive and this is now a major issue of concern for health authorities. The disease originated from Japan, and has already claimed about 1000 lives in Bihar and UP this year. The disease actually transmits from pigs to humans, through mosquitoes.
There are currently blood tests being conducted to find out whether or not there is a scare of the disease in the area. The samples have been taken from Shastri Park, Rohini and Shahadra areas.
It was revealed by Dr. V. K. Monga, of the MCD, that this is an alarming situation ad there is need for better methods of screening to be incorporated soon, and otherwise it might lead to serious consequences in the time to come.
If the epidemic spreads, it might tend to infect a lot or people throughout the area and there is need for effective measures for understanding how bad the situation is and taking control over the same, while there is still time.
Slaughtered pigs as well as people are being tested for the disease, and it’s a matter of time before results are out and authorities realize how they need to go about the scenario to avoid spreading further infection in the country.
“It is a serious situation as it proves that the virus has spread in the city and is not limited to a particular area. We will be sending another 100 samples for testing next week”, revealed Dr. Monga.
