With new chief executive, Google is citing many new changes. The operating committee of Google (known as “The OC”) has been renamed to the “L Team”, which is a short term for Larry’s Team.
It would be definitely not wrong at all to say that Google’s most powerful group has got a more piercing name this time.
About nine months ago, Google’s co-founder Mr. Larry Page was handed over the responsibility to serve as the chief executive of the company. Since then, some very quick moves have been witnessed from Page’s side in an effort to restructure the company by his own way. One can also say that the most powerful group of the company has become the first most targeted one, since it is considered as the most influential group of the company that works on plotting company’s strategic priorities, including social networking and mobile computing.
Moreover, Page has added some new members to his cabinet, such as Social Networking Head Mr. Vic Gundotra, Android Mobile Chief Mr. Andy Rubin and YouTube Head Mr. Salar Kamangar, confirmed all those familiar with internal matters of the company.
To keep a regular check on the working of his cabinet, Page is mostly in contact with his team known as the “L Team” (which includes Google's top finance and legal executives). His cabinet shares responsibility of efficiently discussing, evaluating and then approving their plans, be it any acquisition or about any new products.
“All major decisions flow through that group”, said one of the people, speaking anonymously because of confidential nature of the topic. Not many Google representatives are ready to comment on the changes Page has made in the team.
