It has been reported that in the past few years there has been a sudden rise in the number of corrective surgery cases in Australia. According to the data released by the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, about 38% of hike has been witnessed by the plastic surgeons in corrective surgery cases.
Many Australians plan to go for cosmetic surgery overseas but to their disappointment they are required to go for corrective surgery soon after landing back to Australia. It has been reported that among corrective surgeries, breast surgery and facial surgery are the two most popular surgeries. About 65% of the patients are required to go for corrective surgery after having done breast surgery on abroad.
Apart from this, 15% and 8% of the patients are required to go for corrective surgery, in Australia, after having gone through facial surgery and tummy tucks, respectively. It has been revealed that plastic surgeries done at overseas leads to higher chances of one being left with permanent scars or disfigured structure.
It has been found that lower charges offered by the clinics of Thailand and Malaysia encourage many Australia to go abroad for the surgery. However, they forget that cosmetic surgery often requires healing and proper rest.
The people who are opting for overseas surgery need to be alert as for cheaper surgery they might be putting themselves under risk. The cases of blunted cosmetic surgery are higher in countries like Thailand, Singapore, India, and in South America.
It has been informed that although people chose overseas option for cheaper cosmetic surgery, they are required to make payment of $5750 for getting corrective surgery done in Australia. Last year, about 500 Australian contacted the Australian plastic surgeon to get their blunted surgery corrected or fixed. The President Associate of Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Professor Rodney Cooter, said that cheaper cosmetic surgeries are not often performed by well qualified medical staff.
