Obesity May be Triggered by Childhood Habits, Say ResearchersA recent study has found that obesity can be spread from those with whom one has spent his childhood. The findings of the researchers of Newcastle University carry much weight as it links between weight and the influence of our company on our eating habits.

For the study, the researchers observed 236 pairs of adolescent siblings who lived together and 838 pairs of adult siblings who did not live together. It was found that the BMI of the siblings of both the groups were similar in some way when they turned adult.

The researchers are of the opinion that the some habits of childhood are carried to our later part of life which leaves a serious impact over the lives of people. Similarly, hereditary and diet is one of the main causes behind sibling having similar BMI.

The findings of the researchers have been published in the journal Obesity. The researchers have emphasized that the obesity in adulthood is actually an outcome of our health habits of childhood. However, further study in this respect has been called for so that a proper conclusion can be drawn to know as to how childhood habits are linked with obesity among adults.

Commenting upon the findings of the study, Heather Brown, researcher noted, "The findings demonstrate the importance of early interventions to prevent obesity". It is hoped that through the findings of the study, obesity among the adults could be prevented.

These days, obesity has become one of the major issues in almost every country. Government has been coming up with many policies to get rid of obesity but still no concrete step has yet been taken. Medical experts have linked it to various life threatening diseases like heart diseases and cancer.
