According to the researchers, if HIV patients are provided with antiretroviral drugs timely then the chances of it being spread to others reduces by 96%. The US Agency for International Development has reported that HIV has killed about 25 million people since it was first discovered in 1981.

In 2005, the National Institutes of Health started a research on HIV which is said to complete by 2015.
