It has been informed that the researchers of North Carolina-Chapel Hill University were able to unfold a mystery of HIV treatment. It has been informed by the researchers that if HIV treatment is provided to patients in the nick of time then it can significantly reduce the chances transmission of the virus to others.
AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease caused by HIV which affects the immune system of people. The findings of the researchers were published in the journal Science. The findings of the researchers clearly highlight that HIV/AIDS can be eradicated from the world.
According to the researchers, if HIV patients are provided with antiretroviral drugs timely then the chances of it being spread to others reduces by 96%. The US Agency for International Development has reported that HIV has killed about 25 million people since it was first discovered in 1981.
Various countries have spent billions of money on research over HIV. It is hoped that the findings of the researchers of North Carolina-Chapel Hill University would pave the way of HIV eradication. In 2005, the National Institutes of Health started a research on HIV which is said to complete by 2015. For the research, $73 million was invested by the nine nations which are a part of the research.
A large number of AIDS prevention programs are being run at various countries with the pursuit of putting an end to the deadly disease. It is hoped that through the continuous efforts of the researchers HIV could be eradicated from the world. But, it is also important to make people aware about its spread and prevention.
