We all are well familiar with many different changes that a mother has to face during her journey of pregnancy. One in the list is being forgetful. Till now, we did not know any valid reasoning behind the same but a researcher has recently claimed some scientific truths behind same.
In his statement, researcher has clearly mentioned about the baby brain syndrome, which he said generally acts as that good reason to make expectant mothers develop short-term memory loss during their pregnancy.
Suggestions are saying that expectant mother’s brain actually changes during pregnancy in order to give better concentration on their newborn’s needs after the birth, says Dr. Laura Glynn, a psychologist at Chapman University, California.
In her statement, Dr. Glynn claims that all the changes that take place in a women’s body are basically due to the massive fluctuations that arouse in women’s hormones during her pregnancy and also because of the tiny movements that are made by the foetus in the womb.
Dr. Glynn since long is carrying out extensive research (on already published studies) in the field to know why women’s brains and emotions change so drastically during their pregnancy. She has claimed hormonal changes and foetus’s movement in the womb to be majorly affecting a woman’s brain during her pregnancy, thereby making her become more sensitive during that phase.
“Pregnancy is a critical period for central nervous system development in mothers, yet we know virtually nothing about it”, said Dr. Glynn, whose research (regarding the reasons of forgetful nature of pregnant women) is published in the journal Current Directions In Psychological Science. “It’s exciting to think about whether those cells are attracted to certain regions in the brain”, she added.
