Sony to roll out Android 4.0 ICS update to Tablet S and Tablet P

Sony to roll out Android 4.0 ICS update to Tablet S and Tablet P Going by the news posted in the community forums of Sony UK, the latest Android iteration - the Android version 4.0 `Ice Cream Sandwich' (ICS) - will come aboard two of the company's devices, Tablet S and Tablet P.

The post mentioned that the ICS upgrade will be rolled out to both the devices - which are presently equipped with the Android 3.2 `Honeycomb' version -, but stopped short of giving any official intimation about the exact timeline for the update.

Both Tablet S and Tablet P from Sony boast unique form factors and a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor. However, while the 10-inch Tablet S is quite similar in appearance to a folded back magazine; the clam shell design of Tablet P is comparatively smaller, which makes the device easily pocketable.

In spite of the fact that not much has been reported about these two tablets ever since they have been released, it is quite hearty to see Sony supporting both the devices, which feature a custom interface that would make the Android ICS update possible --- quite unlike the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab which have a custom interface that hampers the platform upgrade.

Other than announcing the ICS update will be brought on the Tablet S and the Tablet P, Sony - which has been leaving no stone unturned to keep its devices up-to-date - had earlier revealed that its entire 2011 smartphone line-up will get the Android 4.0 upgrade beginning March or April 2012.
