HIV Drug Awaits FDA Approval

fdaIt has been recently been revealed in a report that Gilead Sciences based in South San Francisco has recently passed their new drug to the Food and Drug Administration to get it reviewed for authenticity. This has been done for their new trial drug for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis.

It has further been revealed that the company has asked the FDA for a priority review which would mean a quicker decision. This means that it might be expected that the decision comes till the month of June. For now clinicians can prescribe the drug without the label, but an official authenticity label might mean the drug could be marketed widely for people all over the world.

The drug, if it is passed for authenticity, will be a major breakthrough development in the field of medicine. HIV/AIDS has very few drugs available for now and there might be a chance this one might be able to cure the disease, rather than simply holding the effects for a prolonged time.

This would mean that people all over the world, could be benefitted with the aid of drug, because HIV is a major scare for many people of the world. It would also mean that the drug could be used under different insurance programs and might soon be able to help people suffering from the onset of the killer disease.

"We believe in the right of HIV-negative people to choose the evidence-based prevention methods that best support their efforts to remain negative, and we urge quick FDA approval of Truvada for prevention”, revealed Dana Van Gorder, the Project Information Executive Director.

The study is going to be a long and complex one, using different surveys on people to find out the worth of the drug before an official green signal is given to it.
