Nicola Margaret Adam is Scotland’s First Baby of 2012

Nicola-Margaret-AdamNicola Margaret Adam became Scotland’s first baby of 2012. Weighing 6lb 6oz, she entered the world at 12. 02 am at the Southern General Maternity Unit in Glasgow. Her mother, Margaret Adam is quite excited to know that her daughter is Scotland’s first new born.

Adam a first time mother said she did not experience much labor pains. Not the level she expected and further affirmed about keeping her daughter’s name Nicola, “I chose Nicola because it’s a nice name. I didn’t want any of these funny unusual names. I just wanted her to have a nice normal name.”

Similar to Nicola, many other kids entered earth on New Year. Joseph James Fleming said to be the next new born in Scotland after Nicola. Mr. Fleming said his son’s entry in to the world was a bit different. He got delivered on their bathroom floor after which they immediately took him and his mother to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Edinburgh Royal Infirmary doctors said two other infants followed the Fleming. Both babies got born to two neighbors who delivered their babies at same hospital. One of the mothers is Samina Ghafoor who delivered 10lb 8oz weighing Elizah Fatima Mayo at 12:42am.

Soon after four hours her neighbor Michelle Clark gave birth to Peyton Louise Clark Piper, who weighed 7lb. Similarly at 12:45 am Kelly Miller gave birth to her daughter Ava at Vale of Leven Hospital.

Other early arrivals included Billy James Slater Williams who got born to mother Joanne McArthur at 02:41am at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital. Another child was Noah James Wood who got born to parents Jenny and Steven Wood at Borders General Hospital.

Ninewells Hospital in Tayside said Alice Kummerer was the first baby of their place. He got born at 01:29 at Ninewells and weighed 8lbs.
