Blood Sugar Problems Likely If Children Have Sleeping Problems

Blood Sugar Problems Likely If Children Have Sleeping ProblemsIt has been recently revealed that those children, who sleep less, might be at the impending risk of Type 1 diabetes. The researchers are of the view that sleep is an indicator of the fact that the child might be suffering from a disease.

It was revealed by the lead investigator Michelle Perfect, from the University of Arizona, that there was a test conducted on the sleeping habits of children from the age group of 10-16 years. It was found that children suffering from the disease tend to be spending more time in their light sleep, as compared to the other children. It is essential that parents monitor the sleep patterns of their children and find out whether or not they are at a risk of a certain disease.

The new study was revealed in the Sleep Journal and it was found that the individuals with higher blood sugar levels are the ones having sleeping disorders.

"We found that it could be due to abnormalities in sleep, such as daytime sleepiness, lighter sleep and sleep apnea. All of these make it more difficult to have good blood sugar control", revealed Perfect.

It was further added that when a child tends to sleep less, it directly affects his/ her behavior and school grades, children tend to be irritable when they are sleep deprived. There is need to help the kids, by correct diagnosis and treatment for their disease.

It is essential for kids to complete a full night's sleep so that they can grow up to become healthy and well qualified, because they would be able to do well as their schools, only when they are totally rested and relaxed.
