It has been informed that the dogs who were poisoned on Wednesday are recovering significantly. An investigation carried out over the poisoning case has revealed that the dogs were fed laced-meat which was contaminated by harmful chemicals.
The heinous incident of poisoning took place at a rural home in the Nanton area. In the last one month, three cases of dog poisoning have been reported. In all the cases, dogs were poisoned using strychnine-laced chicken.
Investigation over the cases has revealed that dogs were deliberately poisoned. The dogs that became victim of poisoning were taken to clinic by their owners when they spotted unusual shivering among the dogs. The owners also informed that their dogs had difficulty in answering common nature's call.
Although the two dogs are reportedly recovering from poisoning, the culprits who planned poisoning the dogs are yet to be identified. Dirk DeGraaf, of Nanton Vet Clinic, said: "What we have been seeing in the last while is a strychnine poisoning. It seems that the ones we have seen have what appears to be chicken in their stomachs".
It has been informed by the owner of the dogs, Karen Legault that their pets are friendly in nature. It means there is a possibility of someone becoming their friend first and later on poisoning them. Karen Legault further informed that the two dogs normally hangout at the yard.
The two dogs that were poisoned have been identified as Belle and Nook, golden lab and golden retriever, respectively. Belle is said to have recovered, but Nook is still recovering from the poisoning.
People having any kind of helpful information, which could help investigators solve the case, are urged to contact the officials. Besides, people have been asked to keep a tab over activities in their neighborhood that could help in saving the innocents lives from mischievous people.
