B.C. Woman Claims Toothbrush Wounded Her Mouth, Sues Colgate

B.C. Woman Claims Toothbrush Wounded Her Mouth, Sues ColgateColgate-Palmolive's "Active Angle" toothbrush broke into two pieces while a British Columbian woman was brushing her teeth five years back. The incident left Saliha Alnoor's mouth bleeding and she collapsed right there.

She has filed a case against the Canadian Company where she has demanded cost of her further treatment as well as has claimed damages. The case is scheduled for hearing in the BC Supreme Court in Vancouver on Tuesday.

Alnoor said the incident happened in October 2006. She was brushing her teeth when the brush handle broke in to two pieces hurting her mouth severely. The broken toothbrush tore her gums and she was bleeding so much that she even collapsed at that moment. But, she thanked her family who was with her in this difficult time.

After she felt little bit better, she registered a complaint to Colgate which further asked details about it. Since then, they have not answered her query. This uncared attitude let her file a case against them. Now, Alnoor suffers from gingivitis, poor appetite and weight loss and she blames Coalgate for all this.

She needs to undergo a dental surgery so that she could get free from that disease as well as from pain which she suffers every day. Alnoor said the incident has taken away happiness from her life.

An official statement reads, "The defendant failed in its duty of care owed to the plaintiff and others to properly test the suitability and safety of the Active Angle toothbrush before releasing the said product into the marketplace".

It is also said that the toothbrush has some strange design problems. It has been questioned many times about its safety and seems like there is some problem in the material by which it is manufactured. Colgate has filed a defense statement, but it was not subjected to public disclosure.
