It’s been almost two decades none hasn’t got a chance to enjoy the car parade in the city following the ban put by the ACT Government to avoid occurrence of any street riots, thereby banning hot street machines from public roads but here comes good news.
Yes, this Thursday once can have a chance to enjoy the scene. Here, the car parade is being talked about that will be showcase approx 200 cars, which altogether will parade down through Canberra's main.
Reports have confirmed that Summernats 25 will mark its start on Thursday. The car parade will be led by a Citycruise and the parade will follow its path down Northbourne Avenue at midday (AEDT).
Viewers can enjoy the event’s stretch over a kilometer. Participating cars have been restricted to move at 40km/h and the entire parade will be escorted by dozens of police officers to avoid any mishap during the event.
Once again after 18 years of letting loose any hot machines on public roads or let us say since so many years we have been watching and could enjoy the hot machines only in Canberra's Exhibition Park but start of this year has brought great news for all the viewers of the car parade.
The ban from the ACT government actually was result of occurrence of certain events in the city in the early 1990s, which finally ended with the street riots in the region and also arrest of hundreds of people for being involved in offences like drunkenness, missile throwing and dangerous driving.
The riots unfortunately also witnessed major affect on Summernats' original Saturday afternoon "Supercruise", which was totally scrapped at that time.
Hoping the best comes with the start of the event this year, event owner Mr. Andy Lopez said that "We've put it on at a time of day which we feel will encourage families and workers from the ACT to just get out and have a look”.
