Labor and National Committee Say They Aren’t Biased Towards the Food Industry

Labor and National Committee Say They Aren’t Biased Towards the Food IndustryIt has been recently revealed that both the Labour and the National Committee are in a denial mode that they are focusing too much on the food industry. When it comes to the nutrition polices, it has been revealed according to a research done by a team from the Otago University that these parties have always paid more attention towards the industry than towards developing polices for the children.

It was said by the Health Minister, Tony Ryall, that this is not the case and that a sum of $65 million per year is being spent on the nutrition programmes, which is a good way of helping them meet the necessities, than the meager efforts being made by the nanny state that was approached by the Labour.

It was further said by the Deputy Labour leader, Grant Robertson, that their party was doing a good job and working towards making the people meet their necessities on time.

"What we did was where we were able to have some influence, for instance in guidelines for schools around what they sold, we used that influence, we created a Healthy Eating, Healthy Action strategy that was about people living healthy lifestyles”, he said further.

All these speculations were raised after there was a study conducted by the New Zealand authorities about the obesity epidemic which seems to be spreading like wild fire. More and more people are falling prey to obesity and there is need for quick and efficient steps by the government for helping in the prevention of the same.

According to the study that was conducted by the Otago University, which was inclusive of 313 regarding the Type 2 diabetes and obesity risk in the year 2006, it was found that the National ad Labour-led governments gave more favors to the food firms.
