Governments of all states are trying their best to save maximum number of people in their regions from the habit of drinking, especially binge drinking.
But, a recently-issued report has really disturbed the concerned authorities by bringing out the fact that college-age drinkers are increasingly adopting the habit of binge drinking. On an average, a college-age drinker drinks nine total drinks when they are in drunken state, confirms the government health officials in their reports of Tuesday.
The officials, along with highlighting the surprising and poor statistics, also cleared in their new issues report about all the dangers and risks that are attached with the habit of binge drinking. i. e. drinking at least four to five drinks at a time.
The reports have mentioned that one in every six US adults, out of those who were surveyed by the researchers, accepted getting binged on alcohol during the previous month. The numbers were higher to more than 1 in every 4 drinkers aged 18 to 34 years.
The worst stood the fact that said alcohol is being sold in bigger numbers than the estimations suggesting, and thus officials are claiming that the people are definitely lying about the drunken glasses they consume.
Following the facts, health officials have estimated that half of the beer, wine and liquor being consumed in the United States by adults every year are consumed as binge drinking.
“I know this sounds astounding, but I think the numbers we're reporting are really an underestimate”, said Dr. Robert Brewer, who leads the alcohol program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “We’re talking about a risk behavior that’s quite widespread in the population. And where people have the impression it’s not such a bad thing to do”, he added.
