It has been recently revealed that the laws on mercy killing are going to be looked into and revised by the MPs. This has been revealed according to a recent decision by the Common Backbench Business Committee.
There shall be talks held about the need to change the laws on mercy killing. There is need for making these laws more flexible so that people who are living in such conditions that are worse than death, have a right to end their lives, with someone’s help.
Assisted suicide, which would later turn to become a murder charge for the helper is obviously not the right thing to do. This is putting the person in further trouble of not wanting to prosecute their loved ones. There are many cases in which people get paralyzed completely and their life needs assistance at every step, and living such a life full of torture and pain is something no one would want for themselves.
In such a case if someone wants to end their own life with the help of someone, is it a crime? Assisted killing has been frowned upon since years and years and the debate about the same has continued since a long time.
There is need for a perfect set of rules to be made that suffice the need of both the sides of the debating party. It is obviously ethically unfit to help a person in ending his/ her life. But what about when the person is dying each second? Is it worth the pain and torment? It is worth killing the person day by day? The questions are too complicated, and the answers are far from visible. There is need for a revision of rules to help people in need.
