Facebook group wants 'bald Barbie' to fight cancerA new Facebook group has started a campaign to popular doll maker Mattel to make a bald version of Barbie for kids suffering from cancer.

Rebecca Sypin and Jane Bingham started a Facebook page titled "Beautiful & Bald Barbie! Let's see if we can get it made" to get the famous doll to become an ambassador for this girls with cancer and do something socially responsible.

Sypin's daughter, Kin Inich, who lost her tresses due to leukemia, clarified that their campaign was not asking people to boycott; instead they were just try to raise awareness.

Clarifying the objective of their aim, Sypin said, “We are not demanding; we are not asking people to boycott. That wasn't our goal at all. We're just trying to raise awareness.”

When the duo started the Facebook campaign, a few days before Christmas 2011, they had hoped to gain 500 likes on their page. But, they have already far surpassed their goal by gaining around 18,000 likes.

Sypin and Bingham said they would appreciate if Mattel agreed to create a bald version of Barbie and donate a part of proceeds from the doll sales to children's cancer research and treatment. However, they stressed that they're also open to other toy companies, which might show interest in working with them.
