Avoid Injuries by Staying Cautious

Avoid Injuries by Staying CautiousIt was previously revealed that elderly people are more likely to suffer unintentional falls and injuries subsequently if they are under prescribed medication. Now, the researchers are of the view that this is true for people of all age groups.

It was recently examined that people between the age of 25 and 60 also seem to have the same effect of prescribed drugs. It seems to make them also more prone to falls. This was revealed after a test conducted on 340 people, who had been on a number of prescribed drugs. It was found that these people tend to increase their probability of falls by 2.5 times.

The probability of falls increases with the drugs meant for lowering cholesterol and blood pressure. The researchers from University of Auckland were of the view that this might be due to other health condition that the patients might be suffering from, rather than the prescribed drugs.

“The findings suggest that, as in the case of older people, younger working aged adults who use multiple prescription medications are at increased risk of falls, an aspect that should be considered in falls prevention programmes”, they said.

This is one of the side effects that medicines tend to have on one’s general wellness. It is essential that people keep in mind these calculated risks which come with medicines, and therefore try their best to avoid any sort of accidents and falls by being a little extra cautious. One should wear comfortable and non slippery shoes to avoid falls. There is also need to watch where one is walking in order to avoid any sort of falls, which might lead to injuries if they happen to be serious.
