Holden's Elizabeth plant Facing Tough Time

Holden-ElizabethIt has been reported that the job security of the employees working at the Holden's Elizabeth plant is still insecure. The Holden's Elizabeth plant has working poorly because of the economic downturn. With the pursuit of helping the plant to work effectively multi million dollars were provided to parent company General Motors. However, still, the employees are insecure about their jobs.

Recently, South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill conducted a meeting with the General Motors’ Executives to discuss the deteriorating condition of the firm, in the US. During the meeting, the Premier announced that the State and Federal Governments would be providing financial aid to the firm.

Mr. Weatherill has emphasized over the need of reducing the number of job losses in the country. He said, “I think that's likely but what we want to do is minimise the reduction in the number of jobs in South Australia and to create a secure platform from which we can grow”.

Elizabeth car assembly plant currently has 2500 employees. If these employees lose their jobs then it would be a great lose for the country. The global financial crunch has already begun to hit the country. If the scenario remained the same then in the coming times, it would be hard for the people to get employment.

Looking at the current scenario of the company, it is hard to guess as to what type of cars it would be manufacturing in the coming years. However, it is for sure that the plant won’t be able to produce sufficient number of units to make it possible for the firm to stand firm in the domestic as well as international market. Therefore, an integral plan is required to be drafted to save the firm from collapsing.
