Making an immensely surprising disclosure, a recently conducted study, which was carried out by researchers from Scotland, has revealed that a plentiful of lifestyle aspects can hold an immensely high potential when it comes to explaining the reason behind a sharper and very much active routine by some people during the course of their old age.
In this regard, a study was carried out recently by researchers from the universities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Queensland. Suring the course of their study, the researchers successfully discovered a variety of genetic aspects that are apparently accountable for more than 25% of the amendments witnessed in levels of intelligence among people. The changes are mainly observed between upbringing and later life.
However, a large number of environmental aspects, such as those in the likes of occupation, education as well as diet, can be easily held accountable for inducing significant influence on manner in which the ageing process takes place in the human brain.
The researchers further revealed that a variety of genes having a tendency of affecting the levels of intelligence in babyhood are also responsible for providing noteworthy effects on the levels of intelligence as a person gradually grows feeble over a period of time.
The study, which has been made available in the latest edition of the journal Nature, ended up providing a whale of imperative influences made by genes in the levels of sharpness, reflexes and activity on a person, though the researchers admitted that there’s no point denying the fact that environment plays a massive role in influencing the said changes.
While expressing his opinion in this regard, one of the study’s lead researchers from the Edinburgh-based Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology, Prof. Ian Deary, claimed: “Among the factors are education, occupation, relative deprivation/affluence, diet, physical and social activities, smoking and others”.
