A&E sends SOS to Army Due over Staff Shortage

A-E-ArmyRecent reports have claimed that a casualty department has recently been compelled to question the army for assistance since it is going through a rough patch in terms of services, which are mainly influenced by the shortage of skilled doctors prevailing in the hospital.

Ever since November last year, the A&E department of West Yorkshire’s Pontefract Hospital has remained closed overnight. As a result, it is not accepting any patient between 10 pm and 8 am, which has apparently resulted in creating a state of bother among patients all over the region.

With the intent of fixing some of its services, Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust has urged the army for providing support for the time being so that the hospital can remain in working mode 24x7.

However, making such an appeal is nothing new as the NHS Trust of Mid Staffordshire made a similar request during the last year.

While expressing his opinion in this regard, Yvette Cooper, the Shadow Home Secretary and an MP for Pontefract and Castleford, claimed: “The Government needs to explain why two NHS trusts now need help from the Army”.

On the other hand, Andy Burnham, the Shadow Health Secretary, said that the appeal clearly attest the verity of the so-called gossips that the NHS services are sprawling out rapidly, and no wonder the NHS officials have started feeling the heat of distress.

However, the MP for Hemsworth, Labour's Jon Trickett, was quoted accusing hospital bosses for the rapid downfall being felt by the NHS. He claimed that, “The answer is for the management of the trust to get a grip and recruit the necessary staff”.

The MoD has informed that it is still due to have any kind of formal appeal for assistance.
