Chinese Doctors Pull Out ball From Dolphin's Stomach

DolphinIt could have been dangerous had the doctors not intervened. This is what most of the members of the Nanjing's Underwater World park in eastern China would be thinking as they saw doctors helping Jiang Bo, a dolphin from Japan, after the dolphin ingested a ball while playing in his pool. It all happened on Wednesday. Though there were other volunteers also, doctors had to come for help as it could not be removed by anyone else.

It was told that a professional basketball player with Jiangsu Province club, Meng Da, was told to get inside the Chinese aquarium to help the dolphin, but nothing could be done to get the ball out. It was told that the team of doctors was left with fewer options but to airlift the five-year-old dolphin to Nanjing Medical University. The doctors had attached a medical steel wire with the ball to keep it in control and then, operated for three hours on the dolphin to get the ball out. It was something which no one could have ever anticipated. But, the team of doctors really did great job as it pulled the dolphin out of health risk.

Though there are official reports that the animal is safe, however, it is being said that it would take some more time for the dolphin to fully recover. “We'll give him post-operation care and adjust his diet”, said an official. This case is unique as perhaps for the first time, such unusual operation had been performed.

While one enjoys dolphins doing antics with balls in pool, it is hard to imagine what if they gulp down while they are playing. While the dolphin would take his due course of time to be fit to play in pool once again, it would be highly essential for the authorities concerned to see that such accidents could be averted in the best possible manner.
