Do you love chocolate? And feel like consuming it often? Then just don't stop yourself as it has been found by a recent study that consumption of chocolate helps in reducing the chances of a person from being affected with bowel cancer.
The study was conducted by the researchers of the Technology Institute of Food and Nutrition, located in Spain. It is estimated that bowel cancer leads to death of 655,000 people all over the world every year.
The researchers are of the view that if a person makes a habit of consuming chocolate then the chances of one developing the bowel cancer could be reduced significantly. Previous studies have showed that the seeds work as antioxidants for the body. The seeds kill the production of the chemicals in the body which can trigger life threatening diseases like bowel cancer.
In an experiment over the rats it was found that the consumption of chocolate prevents a rat from being affected with bowel cancer. The researchers are of the view that of chocolate can help in preventing bowel cancer in rats then it can definitely work on the human.
However, no such study over humans has been conducted yet. For the experiment on rats, one group of rats was provided with a diet which included 12% of the cocoa for at least eight weeks. The other group was not provided with the cocoa.
It was found that within the four weeks, the group of rats who were not provided with cocoa developed earlier symptoms of intestine cancer. However, the other group of rats was saved as they were being provided with cocoa in their diet. It has been informed that further studies would be conducted to understand the advantages of having cocoa.
