The Vice President of the WellPoint said, "It makes the physician the kind of physician their patient wants them to be. We have so many admissions, ER visits and readmissions that are totally avoidable".
She further noted that the aim of the health insurer is to improve the relationship between the doctors and the patients. It is hoped that through their initiative, the chronic illness like diabetes and heart diseases could be prevented.
It has been informed that the WellPoint operates Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in about 14 states. It is regarded as one of the largest insurers. The proposed changes would come to affect from 2014. Following the announcement by the insurer, its shares witnessed a jump of $1.12.
