It has been recently revealed that the anti-phishing drive is being joined by many major firms. Ones which have already taken the initiative are PayPal, Google, Microsoft and Facebook, besides others. The anti-spam project will soon be underway and they shall work towards making cyberspace more secure for these firms.
They are creating an organization website which shall help these firms in making most of the past experiences, so that they don’t fall in the pits again, and don’t get themselves trapped again. The name of this site is the Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance. It is going to make impersonating difficult in the time to come, as it shall form a loop between the legitimate sources sending e-mails.
“Email phishing defrauds millions of people and companies every year, resulting in a loss of consumer confidence in email and the Internet as a whole. Industry cooperation – combined with technology and consumer education – is crucial to fight phishing”, said Brett McDowell, the Chair of DMARC. org and Senior Manager of Customer Security Initiatives from PayPal.
It was revealed by DMARC that the reason for the growing phishing and spam issues in the cyber world these days is actually the uncertainty about the senders of these emails.
There are options that can be used for making things secure right now, like the Sender Policy Framework and the DKIM. These anyhow don’t seem to guarantee for the firms that these measures have been incorporated or not.
