Mother Succumbs To Complicated Home Birth

Caroline-LovellIt has been recently revealed that a home birth tragedy has resulted in the death of the mother from Victoria. The name of the women was Caroline Lovell and she succumbed after giving birth to a baby daughter.

It was a planned home birth and there were complications due to which she could not survive. She was 36 years old and was even rushed to the Austin Hospital when there were complications seen. It was further revealed that there were private midwives assisting the birth. It was the second child of the woman.

Ms. Lovell was someone who wanted to make home births safer for women and had even made a submission towards the government about the need for ensuring that the midwives delivering babies at home are given appropriate funds and facilities.

"I don’t think we should ever, in any circumstances, rush to judgment based on a single experience. Obviously some people choose to home-birth, the vast majority of people go through a birth process at a hospital”, said the Premier, Ted Bailuieu.

He further added that there isn’t need for drawing a conclusion out of a single case. There is need for a further detailed investigation to be done on the matter to find out the cause of death of the woman. It is advocated usually that hospital births are safer for the mother and the child.

This is true to some extent because the hospitals are more prepared and equipped for emergency situations. It is essential that women opt for hospital births, because this would ensure the safety of the mother as well as the child. There is further need for making home births more planned and safer for the women.
