US Radiologist Work Full of Unacceptable Errors

US Radiologist Work Full of Unacceptable ErrorsAfter New Zealand's Southern DHB found unacceptable errors in the work of a US trained radiologist, Northern DHB has also started the auditing of the radiology tests being conducted by him. Mr. Tulloch was working at Southland Hospital, but now has been voted down and soon would go back to US.

He worked in the hospital for first three works of December in 2010. Number of unacceptable errors was being noticed by his staff members in the reports of patients, including expecting mothers. This news has raised concerns among the Northern DHB where he had worked between October 2010 and March 2011.

Northland DHB's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Roberts said that they have to go through thousands of reports, but they would read each and every report carefully. He assured the public that till now, no reported mis-happening has occurred due to Mr. Tulloch's reports.

Southern DHB officials said that they initiated a separate investigation as soon as they found errors in some of the reports. They went through 218 reports and found that majority of the reports had one or the other error which was totally unacceptable.

They also said that till now, they have not come across any reported harm that might have occurred due to these errors. However, they have been looking in to the matter.

"The DHB is pleased with the fast actions of staff, the effectiveness of its systems in detecting the problem and the comprehensive process which followed - all of which may have prevented a more serious issue from occurring", said Southern DHB officials.

It is reported that Mr. Tulloch is quite upset over his mistakes and has apologized to patients. He would soon travel back to US, said Roberts.
